Both the hubs and I are coffee drinkers and we don’t only drink a cup of freshly brewed coffee a day, but multiple cups of it. The only difference between us is, I mostly drink my coffee in the morning while he drinks any time of the day including the evening. I think we can say that we are certified coffee addicts. 🙂
On one of our first trips to the grocery store after I arrive here in the US, I got a box of Hills Bros. Double Mocha instant cappuccino. It was good, but I never finished the box and just recently, hubby finished it off, even though it was almost five years old. He loved it and the next time we went to the store, he decided to try another flavor. He’s always loved toffee so he got the Hills Bros. English Toffee and from then on, he couldn’t get enough of it.
The box came with a recipe, a recipe for a Mocha Mint Cappuccino Whoopie Pies. We all have sweet tooth around here, not to mention, we all love desserts with chocolate in them. So hubby created the sweet yummy Whoopie Pies.
The recipe not only included the pies, but also a filling. The hubs decided to just create the pies because he wasn’t really into creating the filling and we didn’t have all the ingredients necessary, anyway, not to mention he isn’t into anything minty.
They were still good without the filling; even the little one enjoyed them. They almost reminded me of the chocolate brownies he’s always making from a recipe that his mom left behind, brownies he’d eaten since he was a little boy.
The pies were a blend of both sweetness and saltiness, but they were not too sweet which I really prefer.
You can get the whole recipe HERE.

That’s because they ARE chocolate browniess. Whoopie pies are two of those with cream in the middle. Sort of like an Oreo, but with 2 cakes instead of cookies.

Those whoopie pies sound delicious. I’ll have to make them this weekend, so the family can stuff our faces with them.

I LOVE whoopee pies. I like both the cake part and the cream, kudos to you for not making the cream it makes these “healthier” maybe! 😉

Me and my husband are coffee addicts too! The only thing different is I always have something to have with my coffee, while my hubby just prefers black coffee with nothing else. I guess I can make him change his mind when I make whoopie pies. Thanks for sharing!

These remind me of chocolate brownies too! They look absolutely amazing and I would definitely pair them with any of my seasonal coffees!

Definitely just made the cake part so this is a cake brownie haha. Still looks really good but technically not a whoopie pie. You need the filling squished between two cakes to be an actual whoopie pie

My oh my, I can have some of those right now. Looks super delicious!

I went on a “healthy” kick last night.. and I can’t even tell you how much German chocolate I’ve “sampled” throughout the day. So while these aren’t helping the healthy side of me, they’re feeding my chocolate loving side!! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
