Despite our hectic schedule – from hubby’s job, to the chores and tasks that I have to do and to our son’s school and out-of-school activities, we always make it a point to spend quality family time together. One of our favorites are movie nights and we not only have them during the weekends, but even on weekdays. Whenever there is an opportunity, we grab it. And during those movie nights, there was never a time that we didn’t have something to munch on. I think a movie night is not complete without those munchies.
So, over the weekend, with the help of my husband, we prepared a delicious treat for us to enjoy while watching a movie. We love brownies and we love M&M’s candies as well. Putting them together makes such a special treat like no other.
Munching on M&M brownies wasn’t the only thing that we did, we also munched on Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Popcorn and drank Sprite. Got to have that popcorn for a perfect movie night. I got all of these at Walmart and except for the MARS Milk Chocolate and Peanut M&M’S® Chocolate Candies in canisters that you can find at the checkout aisle, both the popcorn and sprite can be found easily in the grocery section.
The recipe for these delicious brownies is courtesy of my late mother-in-law. She had a collection of recipes and hubby kept them all these years. We love her brownie recipe and the husband has been baking the brownies almost regularly around here.
But adding the M&M’s was our idea and what a fun idea it was.
We baked one pan and put the M&M’s on top while the icing was still hot – MARS Milk Chocolate on one side and Peanut M&M’S® Chocolate Candies on the other.
Here’s the recipe for you to try.

With all these delicious goodies, we curled up and watched the movie War Room, a new Sony release.
It was an amazing movie, a truly inspirational tale of the power of prayer. The term war room had nothing to do with a military context. It’s a room that a faithful one uses to get in touch with God in an up-close-and-personal way with no distractions. And it shows that prayer is not necessarily something one uses to ask for favors from God, but a tool to use to ask Him to use his power in the way he sees fit to show one what he wants.
