As family, we love to go on road trips and love to check towns and cities whether big or small. We always find it exciting to explore places, see its beauty and learn its history. I have to give credit to my husband who loves things like this. Having emigrated here from the Philippines to get married, my husband has made sure that my son and I have learned the history and see the beauty of his country, the U.S.
My son and I have been in the U.S. for five years now, and so far, we’ve already been to at least nine states, mostly on the east coast. We live in the southern part of the east coast so we first explored the states that are close to us. For this year, we do have plans of exploring more states. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we get to visit more states and perhaps even those in the western part of the country.
There are definitely a lot of places that we want to visit and see and I do know that there is an abundance of must-see places in the west, one of which is the Capitol Reef Country in Wayne County, Utah. Located in southern Utah, the place offers a whole lot of fun and exciting outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy like ATV riding, cycling, fishing, horseback riding, canyoneering, biking, hiking or maybe just a picnic. Honestly, I’ve never tried any of these activities as well as my son, but I am more than willing to try if given the chance. It would be exciting for sure!
Capitol Reef is also a place for breathtaking and gorgeous views. From red rocks, to forests and mountain ranges. I love taking photographs of landscapes. I can only imagine how awesome it’s going to be to see those views and capture their beauty in photographs.
The one thing I know that my husband will enjoy is stargazing in an area where there isn’t much ambient light. Even to this day, he loves going out and just lying down in the backyard and looking skyward into the dark skies, something he has been doing since he was a little boy. He loves seeing shooting stars and just recently we bought our son a telescope which would certainly be a great thing to take and use in the wide-open spaces of Utah.
And coming from a huge city in the Philippines, one of the things I’ve come to love about America is the small towns, many of which we’ve visited and driven through during our journeys, and without a doubt, there are many such quaint places in the Capitol Reef Country in Wayne County, Utah.
There are hotels, inns, cabins, campgrounds, and even RV Parks around the region for the kind of stay that you want. There are also different restaurants for your dining needs and retail stores to enjoy some shopping.
There are a lot of things to see and enjoy at Capitol Reef Country that is very family-friendly. I would love to go there someday. And I have no doubt, my husband and son would love to go too.

Oh, you’re so right! Stargazing out West is phenomenal! We just completed a road trip from Arizona to Virginia, and the campsite we stayed at in New Mexico was out in the middle of nowhere. The stars were gorgeous.

I’ve always thought the stark geography of the western states has its own brand of beauty. There’s something about those rock formations set against a blue sky that is miraculous.

We have been to Utah, but not to Capital City! It looks like a beautiful place to explore. We live in the west, but hardly explore stuff like this.
