And no, I do not mean that literally. I speak of savoring the flavor of one of June’s culinary creations. June was my hubby’s mom, lovingly called June Bug by her family, a nickname given to her by her father right after she was born. Unfortunately, I never got to meet her because she passed away seven months before I was able to come to the US to marry her son.
She was known for being a good cook. She had a collection of recipes handwritten by her on index cards, stored away in a plastic index-card box. My husband has kept it all these years and considers it a memento. Good thing the husband kept it. At least I got to see her recipe collection which is simply admirable. And good thing too that my hubby is always sampling them, trying to recreate the flavors he grew up munching out on.
Last month I shared with you June Bug’s Chili recipe. This time around, with the husband’s permission once again, I am sharing with you her delicious brownie recipe, or what the hub’s fondly calls June Bug’s Brownies.
These brownies are so delicious; we can’t get enough of ’em. The husband bakes them whenever he gets the chocolate munchies, like three to five times a week, at least! I’ll bet you’d love them too
2) Melt the margarine or butter. Cool slightly and mix with cocoa.
4) Add vanilla & salt.
5) Add flour.
6) Mix all ingredients well.
