If there’s one thing that I miss the most in my home country, it is the…FOOD! Being here in the US for almost four years now, I miss Filipino food so so badly. My hometown is situated by the ocean and is actually the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. That being said, fresh seafood abounds in our city, not to mention, even delivered to our door step by fish vendors on a daily basis.
We live in the mountains here in the US and I certainly haven’t seen the freshness that I used to see. But thank heavens for Asian stores, they fill my cravings. Well, not much, but at least a little bit. The seafood may not be as fresh as back home and they may not have all the ingredients that I want for my dishes, but I am thankful that i get to satisfy my taste buds from time to time.
So today, let me share with you some of my favorite Filipino dishes, or some that I can easily prepare with what I can find here in the Land of Uncle Sam.
I don’t consider myself a good cook but when there’s something I want to try, I just check for recipes online. If you feel adventurous and want to try some of these dishes, put your Google shoes on and journey across the net in search of recipes.

You should try it. I know you’ll love it.
I don’t eat seafood, even though I live on an island! 🙂 I love the look of the other dishes though, the rice looks delicious.
Really? That’s surprising. Yup, the rice is good. So good.
Never had Filipino food before but o can only imagine!!! The us and food…. Ughhhh…. I’ve traveled all over and honestly the US lacks unless your are into fast food burgers 😉
You should try it. 🙂 I’m not at all into fast food. I’ve always preferred home-cooked meals.
Everything looks and sounds so good, except the milkfish 🙂 The dishes look so neat and proper.
Haha. You sounded like my husband about the milkfish. But he likes it. I think you would like it too once you’ve tasted it.
Can’t wait to try some of these! We love trying new foods and this will definitely expand our menu.
Nice to know that, Penny. I’m excited for you tor try it. (“,)

That sausage looks delicious! I know what it’s like to miss home cooking. I live in Maryland now and miss living closer to my grandmother to get her home cooked meals.
Well, now I’m starving. All of that food looks amazing!
Feels like home 🙂 I’m glad that there are stores that sell Filipino Garlic Longganisa there, even the Bangus. There’s nothing like Filipino Food – still is one of thebest.

I really enjoy trying different cuisines like this. It was interesting to read about your favorites.
There is nothing better in this world than a nice fried rice, it’s one of my all-time favourite dishes!
It’s interesting to try Asian cuisine. Hope there’s authentic Filipino food here.
I think there is a Filipino restaurant in New York. And there are Filipino stores in some states too. Unfortunately, we don’t have one here in the city.
I definitely agree with you! Nothing beats a home cooked meal. I love my moms cooking and when she cooks it taste better than any take out I could buy.
It’s so hard moving to a new place that doesn’t have the same food options that your’e used to! we lived in LA before las vegas.. and the asian food is sooo much better out in LA.
I miss homecooked meals too. I’m envious.
Fried rice can really go with a lot of dishes. I also love this Filipino dishes.
I have never tried Filipino dishes before. They look good indeed and there is nothing like the taste of home. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t believe I have had this food before, but it does look delicious and I am so glad you are able to get a taste of home. I bet it tastes super amazing!
Can I please come over? Everything looks delicious
Sure! (“,)
Now you’ve got me interesting in trying Filipino food! I think I’ll pass on the fish with eyes though.
Haha. The eyes are the most delicious part of the fish, actually. Try it and you will agree with me.
I agree. Ive been living in the Us for ove two years now and I miss my real Dominican food!
I hope you also get to find some Dominican food here.
I miss my zambian food and being in the UK for such a long time its hard to find some things that taste the same as home but we do with what we have and can be nice. Love all the foods you’ve shared.
I’ve never had any of that, but it looks amazing! Seriously making me hungry over here <333
I’ve lived in other countries but still nothing beats food in the taste of home. I love rice meals very much, especially during breakfast! 🙂
Pretty sure my husband would love everything you have pictured here. The pictures look great too!
I love fried rice, but I’ve never thought about making it at home. You make it sound super easy (and now I want to try it)!
It is super easy, and there’s a lot of recipes online that you can choose from. Go for it. (“,)
I love all kinds of rice, especially fried rice every now and then.
Mhmm, some of these look fantastic! I’ve never considered bitter melon with eggs though- that would be an adventure for me. I love a lot of Filipino dishes but I’m lucky enough to be friends with a fantastic lady, who cooks plenty of them! 😛
When she whips up a stir fry, it’s to die for.
That is awesome. Good for you. I love stir-fry too.
Oh my! We have those at home too. LOL! What even better is that my husband has a recipe for longanisa, which I can’t share because it’s a family business. I love it so much it tastes like the ones you can buy from the wet market. 😀
Hmm, can I buy some? (“,) My friend has a recipe for longanisa too but I think it can be daunting to prepare it.
I don;t think I’ve had much Filipino food, but that Pork with Shrimp Paste looks amazing! And I’m interested in trying that Bitter Melon.
It is delicious, trust me. Try both of them. I know you will be happy. (“,)
That Filipino breakfast looks delicious! As does the fried rice.
