Forest City is a small town in North Carolina that is located about an hour’s drive from where we live in Asheville. I’ve heard quite a lot about this town, but it was only last week that we finally was able to see the place because of a mission. There wasn’t so much exciting about that mission so let’s leave it like that. We’re all glad though that that mission was accomplished. And if we get lucky, we are going to go back to Forest City in a few weeks’ time.
I’ve heard quite a lot about Forest City on our local news. But one thing that made me excited to see the place was their Christmas decor. I’ve read online that they really decorate their Main Street elaborately during the Holiday season. I am one of those people who loves to see festive Christmas decors. I always am feeling like a child, wide-eyed and amazed by all the beautiful and colorful Christmas decorations. And I think I’m not the only one who feels that way, am I? 🙂
Too bad it was still so bright when we arrived so all the Holiday lights that adorn the Main Street of the city wasn’t lit yet. Our mission was over in about an hour too and we just wasn’t into waiting three to four more hours to wait for the lights. What you see above were just some of the decor on Main Street.
It was about 1 o’clock in the afternoon when we arrived. Our tummies were grumbling so after we saw a vacant parking lot right on Main Street, we parked immediately and decided to walk. We had no idea where to eat or where the nearest restaurant was, but since it was main street, we knew we would stumble on a restaurant somewhere, somehow. And we were right, just a few steps from where we parked was this restaurant called Foothills Cafe. The restaurant serves American cuisine and the food did not disappoint at all. It was good!
Our son had this sandwich with fries plus his most favorite drink, orange juice.
I had this grilled cheese plus potato salad and coffee. Hubby wasn’t hungry yet and only had coffee. Oh, he did finish my potato salad. 🙂
The trip was quick, but it was really delightful so see another nice town, albeit small.
Happy Friday, y’all and have a great weekend!
