We truly had a blast in the Big Apple this holiday season. And after sharing the magical Christmastime in New York City, as a lover of food, I knew I had to do a separate post for all the food that we dug ourselves into while we were there.

Other than planning a visit to a Filipino restaurant on the east side of Manhattan, the rest were not planned at all. We’d just go inside the first restaurant that we came across as soon as our tummies were begging for food. Oh, but of course, we had to sample the street food. As I’ve heard, a visit to the city that never sleeps is not complete without grabbing you a hotdog from one of those street vendors. And tell you what, just like we got lucky on the weather to explore the city on foot, all the food that we had were delicious.

We stayed at Row NYC because of its close proximity to Times Square. Location wise, I would highly recommend the hotel. It’s also close to Broadway and being so close to Times Square, there were also a lot of restaurants, diners around. But other than that, nope! They didn’t have a coffee maker inside the room. First time that we’ve encountered a hotel that had no coffee maker. And being the coffeeholics that both me and hubs are, that wasn’t acceptable at all.

But the hotel has a cafe on the first floor as well as a restaurant which really offer good food. Hubby bought this eclair which we paired with coffee from the cafe. That’s the view of the Hudson River from our hotel room, by the way. Well, at least we’ve got a great view although we didn’t have a coffee maker. 🙂

Street Food

Yep, we sampled the hotdogs on the streets of New York not once, but thrice. This was at Times Square and the little one surely enjoyed his share.

Hubby specifically likes his hotdog with chili.

Europa Cafe

This diner was located right on Times Square. We had to wait for our turn for a while because the line was long. But it was too early for the restaurants to open so we had to grab our brekkie here.

We ate at a few more diners, but I guess I was so hungry that I forgot to take photos. Bad blogger. LOL.

Maharlika

I miss Filipino food so bad so when we travel, I make sure to check for Filipino restaurants around the area. There were a lot of Filipino restaurants in New York City and I chose this one which was located on 1st Avenue. The name of the restaurant is Maharlika. We took a cab to go there and the food did not disappoint. They served us this fried chicken skin while we were waiting for our orders. Really good!

My son ordered this Longganisa or Filipino sausage. This is one of his fave Filipino foods.

And orange juice for me and my son, as always. The hubs had his iced tea, of course.

I’m getting hungry now just talking about all these food and now I want Filipino food so bad once again. 🙂
