On the day of Super Bowl 51, we didn’t only look forward to watching the game, we also looked forward to having a special dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary! ♥ We always go out to dinner on special occasions and once again we checked out a restaurant that is new to us.
Chestnut is located at Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville. I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant out after reading a lot of great things about it. It has been considered one of the best in the city and after that special dinner, I now see why. We also found out that they are a sister company of one of our favorite restaurants, The Corner Kitchen, where we have eaten a few times like Hubby’s birthday last year and on an impromptu breakfast date with the hubs.
THE STARTERS
So while waiting for the food, the waiter gave each of us this super delicious starter!
I’ve already shared this photo on Instagram and as what I said, this chicken salad on a crispin was really good I was going to ask for more. 😉
As usual, our drinks were served first. And as always, the little one’s orange juice was almost gone before his entree’ was served. That’s how much he loves orange juice.
THE RESTAURANT’S INTERIOR DESIGN
The interior design is a combination of rustic, classic and modern. Love the brick wall at the end part of the restaurant.
I’ve always preferred sitting in booths and that was the kind of seating they have. The one shown on the photo are for a couple. We were seated right across in one that is good for four people.
A unique lamp shade yet chic!
THE FOOD
The restaurant offers American cuisine that has a lot to choose from for different palates.
Our son’s favorite fried calamari with chips. He had two orders of the calamari, by the way. 🙂
My tempura trout with rice and veggies. The veggies were spicy which I wasn’t aware of. I am not into spicy food, but I managed to eat a little of the veggies. I just had to drink a lot of juice with every bite. 🙂
Hubby’s pork chop with collard greens and cheesy grits.
We had their housemade s’mores chocolate mousse for dessert. The waiter gave it to us for free after he learned that it was our anniversary. Sweet! It was a bittersweet mousse topped with marshmallow fluff, graham cracker & a Hersey’s milk chocolate piece.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This restaurant definitely did not disappoint. The food were amazing, the ambience was fabulous and the service was excellent. No wonder they are one of the best in Asheville!
