Happy Food Trip Friday!
We have a lot to celebrate in February over here. After celebrating our wedding anniversary and sharing with you where we celebrated it, our next celebration was Valentine’s Day. There is another celebration next week, but that will be another story.
How was your Valentine’s Day celebration? We always give loving surprises to each other as well as the little one. And then we also go out to dinner. We know restaurants are busy on this day, but we really don’t mind. For us, it’s part of the excitement. 🙂
We had our dinner at The Bavarian Restaurant and Biergarten in Asheville, NC. It is a German restaurant and offers genuine German food. That was our second time to be there – the first was on my birthday in 2012. This restaurant is located so close to where we live so we never ran into any Valentine’s Day traffic at all.
THE DECOR
The restaurant is a quaint log cabin that was built in 1929. It actually feels like you’re on vacation and staying in a log cabin. The interior décor is like that of a German hunting lodge
There are different mugs in all sizes hanging on the ceiling. I think I checked them one by one. It was fascinating to see all those mugs. Something that you don’t see usually. But Germany is a beer-drinking country and Bavaria is the home of Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer festival.
If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ve probably have seen this photo already. I shared it yesterday to give you a peek.
THE DRINKS
They don’t serve orange juice so I ordered lemonade instead.
Hubby had pre-dinner coffee…
And ordered this beer to have with his meal. Don’t worry, this was only 12 ounces so he was still good to go to drive.
THE FOOD
The bread.
My roasted vegetables in a strudel.
One of my side dishes…fried potatoes.
And the other side dish… German-style potato salad. The three of us had this as our side dish. It has a tangy taste to it which is something new to me and to be honest, I wasn’t fond of it.
Both the little one and the hubs had bratwursts. They offer a lot of different flavors and as per them, it was good. It was pretty obvious that it was good because they were gone in seconds. 🙂
FINAL THOUGHTS
I love the decor of the restaurant because it is super unique. The service was excellent and other than the potato salad, everything was good.

The food looks super good. We didn’t go out for Valentine’s day. My husband surprised me with flowers and I was able to get a massage. It was amazing. Then I picked up Wingstop on my way home. Yum.
