Goodbye May! Hello June!
As usual, it seems like it was only yesterday when I did the recap for April and here I am again recapping the month of May on what we shared here on the blog. Time sure flies when we’re having fun, doesn’t it? I love doing these recaps though because I love reminiscing about the things that we’ve enjoyed doing as family – times that will forever be in my memory book.
And before I get so cheesy and mushy…let’s head on to the May recap!
FAMILY
Mother’s Day celebration is always extra-special for me because my husband and son never fail to always make me feel so extra-special. I already wrapped up about my Mother’s Day weekend. And although I didn’t get all the things that I desired on Mother’s Day because my husband didn’t get the memo that I sent him in my post, 7 Mother’s Day Ideas for Dads, he still nailed with the surprises that he gave me. 🙂
My husband wrote about a book series that he hooked up to reading recently in…An Amazing Saga by Larry McMurtry Concludes. Other than his love for books, my husband has been so into watching classic black and white films lately that were based on books he’s read and he shared about some of those in his posts, “From Here to Eternity”: A Black-&-White Classic and More Black & White Magic: O. Henry’s Full House.
FOOD
In addition to the surprises, we had dinner at our favorite restaurant here in Asheville on Mother’s Day. The food, as usual, was superb! Just thinking about the halibut dish that I ordered is making me hungry now.
I love avocado and it is my most favorite fruit of all. So in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, I searched and browsed the internet for some creative and delicious ideas and rounded up Avocado Dessert Recipes as well as Avocado Salad Recipes. Yum!
My friend Susan Conley also shared her expertise on…How to Cook Easy Tossing Corn Crusted Chicken Tenders. Our son loves chicken tenders so her recipe was a sure hit over here.
TRAVEL
I love flowers and I always look forward to seeing the roadside blooms here in Asheville in the springtime and summertime. This spring they had poppies planted beside the highway, but it wasn’t only there to give beauty, but to also pay tribute to the fallen of World War I. Read that post, “In Flanders Field” The Poppy is an Eternal Tribute here.
Visiting the Land Down Under is a dream of mine so when Marie Nieves offered to share her post, 7 Destinations in Western Australia That Will Wow Every Traveler on our blog, I couldn’t say no.
And that was the whole month of May in one post!
How was your May? Happy June y’all!

I love a good recap. Sometimes, if I have missed a post, a recap really helps me get a feel for what is going on with people.
Love this recap post idea, I might be stealing it for my own blog! Kind of lets you sit down and reflect a bit, and see what has worked out in the month, and what hasn’t – this is so neat! I see you are exploring new things and learning, trying new recipes and going places – this is a great way to relax and get engaged with things that you enjoy in life. I need that! I just can’t get a minute of rest these days, it is incredible, I guess I have to plan out my time better. I think you have had a great month! Cheers!
