After exploring the gardens of Biltmore, the hubs and I decided to do some hiking and walked about 1.2 miles to the Bass Pond and Boathouse.
We didn’t walk all the way to the Bass Pond Bridge that you’re seeing in the picture, but we did stop here on our way to have lunch at Antler Hill Village.
This is the Azalea Garden and you will pass by it on your way to the Bass Pond and Boathouse. As you may know, azaleas bloom during springtime so they were done blooming when we were there because it was already in the late summer when we paid our visit to the estate.
It’s going downhill on the way to the pond so it was an easy walk. The breeze was cool and the lush greenery sure made for a wonderful walk as well.
And we were there before we know it.
There was a woman sitting on a bench at the bridge leading up to the boathouse. I could have stayed there for hours too. It was a such beautiful spot to relax and soak up nature because it is so serene and tranquil.
There’s the boathouse. A humble piece of architecture that reminds me our native Bahay Kubo (Nipa Hut) in the Philippines.
The view of the Bass Pond from the Boathouse. There is also a waterfall at the end of the pond. Hubby and I didn’t walk all the way there, but we did see the waterfall on our way to Antler Hill Village. It is located near the Bass Pond Bridge, but we didn’t get to find a good spot to park so we didn’t stop which explains why I didn’t get a photo of the waterfall.
Going back to the gardens was uphill so it was hard for the both of us because we’re not used to hiking on a regular basis. But I would love to do it again and hopefully in the fall because I’m sure it will be gorgeous with all the fall colors.

Beautiful scenery! Looks peaceful and relaxing! Sometimes we need an outdoor place to unwind and cool our jets, to recharge. I’d love to visit Biltmore Estate with my wife, I love the pictures you took of the surrounding scenery!

I had no idea that anything was at the Biltmore Estate, other than the home itself. Just another reason to want to visit.

This place reminds me of so many hiking trips and walks that I have done in the past. One of the best things about a warm summer day is to enjoy places like this, basking in the sun that shines through the trees, and enjoy the nature in its quiet beauty!
