January 23 is National Pie Day and, in view of that, I decided to round up pie recipes…and not just any pies, but healthy pies. That’s in relevance about my goal for us to continue to eat healthier this year.
Primarily, I was thinking of desserts when I started browsing the internet for healthy pies. I already have several dessert pie recipes that my husband had which his mother left behind, recipes that are obviously on his list of favorites tastewise as well as nostalgia-wise. But I had forgotten that one of my husband’s favorite non-dessert dishes is Shepherd’s Pie until I came across this healthy version. Then I came across the Spinach and Tomato Pie which was a delight because I love spinach and my husband is a tomato addict. Then there’s the Taco Pie. Dang! We love tacos over here, but we sure hadn’t thought of a Taco Pie, a perfect addition to any menu of Mexican food lovers such as us.
In conclusion, these collection of healthy pies are not only desserts, but a few other pies too that you could serve as an entree or maybe for breakfast or lunch as well. Totally depends on you.

Look at these pies! Don’t they look enticing? I have no doubt they are as delicious as they look. I can hardly wait to make each and everyone of them…one at a time though because I must admit, I am really gaining weight and so is the hubs. We need to slow down a bit. LOL.
Are you into pies too? Which one of these pies would you prepare first?
Happy Food Trip Friday, folks and may y’all have a great weekend!

These are great recommendations for people looking for healthy, low calorie pies. I grew up in the old days where pies were rich and sweet. I still make a chocolate pie for my cousins on special occasions.

I would love to try the Hasbrowns, Tomatoes and Spinach pie. I love to eat Spinach. I like that I would be able to make this for my entire family to enjoy since it is Vegetarian friendly.

Shepard’s Pie was a regular part of my family’s dinner time meal rotation as a kid. I don’t remember the last time I had it though. That hashbrown, spinach and tomatoes pie recipe looks interesting!

I’ve never thought about putting avocado in a pie but it’s m guessing it would cut down on some of the sweetness from the chocolate and give a creamy texture, love this idea!
