Filipino-style spaghetti is one of the most popular Filipino dishes. It has a little bit of sweetness to it compared to Italian spaghetti, but that’s exactly why we like it; we prefer it a little sweeter. And if you check the recipe below, you will know what ingredient we use to give it that sweetness that makes it truly delicious.
I have prepared this Filipino-style spaghetti a few times already since I got here in the U.S., but I just now got the chance to finally share it here on the blog. One of the ingredients – the Banana Sauce/Ketchup can only be found at any Asian market. And another difference as opposed to Italian spaghetti is the added meat with this dish. Instead of the usual meatballs, we use beef franks, also available at any Asian market or any U.S. supermarket.
Serving Filipino-style spaghetti is very common at Filipino gatherings whether it’s a birthday party, a graduation celebration or even an anniversary. We love to have this for snack too and it’s undoubtedly kid approved.
If you love spaghetti and if you are adventurous in trying different cuisines, try this Filipino-style spaghetti. I think you are going to like it.
Here’s the recipe for you to try.

I tried making this before and my kids love it. The beef franks were a unique twist to the dish. My kids call it sweet spaghetti and hotdogs. 🙂
